Question categories:  Domain Registration

what is aplus.net’s auto-renewal policy?

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

I. Auto–Renewal Policy:

Aplus.Net / Names4ever.Com provide an Auto-Renewal option for each registered domain name. Each Domain Name Owner can control the Auto-Renewal option for his domain(s) using the Web Control Panel. The Auto-Renewal option has two values:

  • Auto-Renew ON: The domain name(s) will be automatically renewed by the Registrar on the expiration date. Your domain(s) will be renewed using your current method of payment. The Domain Name Owner is responsible for paying the renewal fees on time.
  • Auto-Renew OFF: The domain name(s) will not be automatically renewed. The Domain Name Owner has to explicitly request the renewal of his/her domain name(s) prior to the expiration date.

Aplus.Net / Names4Ever.Com will send two email notifications to Domain Name Owners for expiring domains regardless of the Auto-Renewal option status:

  • The first notification is sent 30 days prior to your domain’s expiration date. The notification includes your current Auto-Renewal option status and instructions on how to renew your domain name.
  • The second notification is sent 15 days prior to your domain’s expiration date. The notification includes your current Auto-Renewal option status and instructions on how to renew your domain name.

II. Expired Domains Deletion Policy:

  • Approximately for the first 25 days after the expiration date, the domain is placed on Registrar-Hold status. This status follows ICANN polices for expired domains. During this period, the original domain owner has the option to renew the domain with no additional fees. If your domain name is currently on Registrar-Hold (Client-Hold) status, we ask that you contact one of our Customer Service Representatives immediately to help you retrieve the domain. Customer Support can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-888-301-2516 (toll free) or 1-858-410-6900 (for International callers).
  • For the following 35 days, the domain is put into Redemption. This status follows ICANN polices for expired domains. During this period, the original domain owner has the option to renew the domain for a redemption fee of $89. If your domain name is currently in redemption status, we ask that you contact one of our Customer Service Representatives immediately to help you retrieve the domain. Customer Support can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-888-301-2516 (toll free) or 1-858-410-6900 (for International callers).
  • When a domain is released from redemption status, it is unregistered and available for registration to the public.
