The
File Manager Tool is a web-based FTP
interface. This tool is used to upload, download, delete and rename
files or directories, change permissions, and much more.
I.
Access the File Manager:
- Log
into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net with your
Registration number and Customer password.
- Select
Web Hosting
from the top navigation bar.
- Next,
select Hosted Domains
and click on Manage
Hosted Domains.
- Click
on the name of the domain you wish to manage.
Note:
If your actual domain name does not yet resolve to
Aplus.Net’s hosting servers, you must use the utility
domain associated with your hosting plan.
- Click
the File Manager-New icon.
You
will see your directory tree structure in the left panel, and the
contents of
the current directory in the right. You can use the left panel to
browse through your directories.
II.
Single file/directory management:
Right-click
a file or directory in order to use the
management menu.

- Open
- a file will be opened in a new web browser window. A directory will
be opened in the same window displaying its contents.
- Download
- a file
will be saved to a location on your local computer. For a
directory this option is not available.
- Edit
as Text
- a file will be opened in editing mode. Your changes will be saved
directly on the hosting server. For a directory this option is not
available.
- Edit as
HTML - a file will be opened in the HTML Editor tool
(WYSIWYG tool). For a directory this option is not
available.
- Cut,
Copy, Paste - you can use these options to cut, copy and
paste a file/directory.
- Add to
ZIP - you can use this option to create an archive of a
file/directory in ZIP format. The Extract here and Extract to... options are available when you right-click an archive.
- Rename
- you can use this option to rename a file/directory.
- Delete
- you can use this option to delete a file/directory. Once you confirm
the removal, the file/directory cannot be restored.
- Permissions
- modify file/directory permissions.
- Properties
- check file/directory properties such as type, size, creation date,
etc.
III.
Bulk file/directory management:
In order to select consecutive files or folders, click the
first item, press and hold down SHIFT, and then click the last item you
wish to select. To select non-consecutive files or folders, press and
hold down CTRL, and then click each item you wish to select.
You
have the following bulk management options
available: Delete, Cut,
Copy, Paste.

IV.
Other management options:

- Directory Up - this button will open the parent directory of the current one.
- Home - this
button will bring you back to your root directory.
- Refresh
- this button will refresh the file/directory
list to reflect the most recent changes.
- Search
- this button will open the Search tool which you can use to find a
file or directory within the current directory.
- New
Directory - use this button to create a new directory in
the current one.
- New
File - use this button to create a new file in the
current directory.
V.
Upload:
Go
to the directory you wish to upload files to and click the Upload button.
You
can
select for upload up to 10 files using the Add More button.
Use the Browse buttons
to select the files from your local computer and click the Upload Files button
to start the upload session.
You can continue working with the File Manager while
your files are being uploaded. You will see a confirmation message once
the upload session has finished.
Note:
Users of Windows OS and Internet Explorer browser can take advantage of
our Multiple
File Upload tool built on ActiveX technology. With this
tool, you will be able to upload whole directories. Please consult the
following Knowledge Base article for more information:
VI. Drag and Drop:
The File Manager offers Drag and Drop options for moving or copying files/directories.
- Directories - you can drag and drop entire directories
either inside the directory structure in the left pane, or from the
left pane to the main window.
- Files - you can drag and drop files from the main window to the directory structure in the left pane.
