Domain Transfer.

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

In order to start the transfer of your domain name to Aplus.Net/Names4ever.Com, please go to http://www.domains.aplus.net/services/domnametransf.php and follow the instructions on the page. Aplus.Net’s friendly Sales Department is also available 24/7 to assist you in requesting a transfer. Please call toll-free (877) 275-8763 or (858) 410-6929 (for International callers).

If you have requested to transfer an existing domain name to Aplus.Net/Names4ever.Com, you have to provide the Authorization code of your domain name so we can submit the transfer request to your original domain Registrar. You will also be required to confirm it via email. Failure to do so will stop the process and the domain will not be transferred. This email will be sent to the administrative contact email address of your domain name.

Domain Transfer Process:

  1. Once you have started the transfer process by submitting the signup form, you will be contacted by email at the administrative contact email address of your domain name to approve the transfer. Follow the link included in the email to approve the transfer.
  2. You have to provide your domain’s Authorization code. Without a correct Authorization Code provided during the domain transfer signup, we won't be able to transfer your domain name. Please contact your current Registrar to obtain your Authorization code.
    1. Once you have obtained the correct Authorization code, login into your Aplus.Net Control Panel at https://cp.aplus.net using you’re your newly created Registration Number and the Account Password you have specified during signup.
    2. Click on Domains from the top navigation bar.
    3. Select the domain name you’d like to transfer.
    4. Click on the Resubmit Transfer icon.
    5. Enter the correct Authorization code and click Modify.

Important: We will resubmit the transfer request within 60 minutes. Furthermore, your current domain password with Aplus.Net will be updated to match the Authorization Code you have just provided. Once the transfer is complete, you can change your domain password at any time.

  1. Your current registrar has 5 days to respond. They can either allow or deny the transfer.
  • If the transfer is allowed by your current registrar, your domain registration will be held by Aplus.Net / Names4ever.Com
  • If the transfer is denied by your current registrar, then Aplus.Net / Names4ever.Com will resubmit the request to your current registrar once a week. The whole transfer process can last at most for 30 days.

Please do not hesitate to contact one of our Customer Service Representatives to assist you with your domain name transfer. Customer Support can be reached 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-888-301-2516 (toll free) or 1-858-410-6900 (for International callers).

Common reasons for domain transfer failure:

  • Invalid administrative contact email – If you don’t have control over the current administrative contact email on the domain as per the global WHOIS database, you will not be able to approve the transfer request. Contact your current registrar and change your domain contact information, make sure that you have control over the administrative contact email. Once the change is effective, contact one of our Customer Service Representatives immediately to have the approval email resend to your new administrative contact email.
  • Incorrect Authorization Code - Without the correct Authorization Code, we won't be able to transfer your domain name as it is required by the domain registry. You should contact your current Registrar to obtain your correct Authorization code and then provide it to Aplus.Net using the Control Panel.
  • Locked domain name – If your current domain name status is – “REGISTRAR-LOCK” or “clientTransferProhibited”, it means your domain is prohibited for transfer by your current registrar. You should contact your current registrar and remove the lock as soon as possible. Once your lock is removed, we ask that you contact one of our Customer Service Representatives immediately to help you resubmit the transfer request.
  • Expired domain name – If you domain name has already expired with your current registrar, a transfer is not allowed at all. You should contact your current registrar and renew your domain for a 1 year period. Once your domain is renewed, we ask that you contact one of our Customer Service Representatives immediately to help you start the transfer procedure. You will not lose the one year extensions with your current registrar since Aplus.Net / Names4ever.Com will extend this period.
  • Time constraints – As per the ICANN rules, a domain transfer is prohibited during the first 60 days of initial registration or during the first 60 days after a registrar transfer.
