Microsoft
FrontPage Server Extensions are the server-side companion to the MS
FrontPage client program. They provide authoring and administrative
functions to web authors through the MS FrontPage client and dynamic
content to web users through the browser.
You
will need to install MS FrontPage Extensions for any website that you
want to edit using MS FrontPage. Please have in mind that once the FP
Extensions are installed, you cannot upload your website files with a
regular FTP client – you have to use only the MS FrontPage
software for this purpose.
HOW
TO INSTALL THE FRONTPAGE EXTENSIONS:
- Start
by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net
using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
- Select
Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
- Next,
select Hosted Domains and click on Manage
Hosted Domains.
- Now,
select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
- Click
the MS FrontPage Manager icon.
Important:
It is possible, if you have a Unix-based hosting plan,
that you will now see a warning message that the FP Extensions could
not be installed due to the existence of .htaccess files
in your web space. A lot of tools available in the Control Panel use
.htaccess files, for example the Protect Directories, Custom Error
Pages, Redirect URL, MIME Types, Advanced Forum, Wiki, osCommerce, etc.
Click the Rename Files button to rename your
existing .htaccess files to .htaccess-orig. Once
the FP extensions are installed, you will be able to automatically
rename back the files with a Restore Files button.
Please have in mind though, that an .htaccess file located in your main
web directory will not be renamed back because it interferes with a
certain .htaccess file used by the FP extensions.
- Click
the Install button.
HOW
TO MANAGE THE FRONTPAGE EXTENSIONS:
- Start
by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net
using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
- Select
Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
- Next,
select Hosted Domains and click on Manage
Hosted Domains.
- Now,
select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
- Click
the MS FrontPage Manager icon.
- Click
on the link bearing your domain name.
to the FP Administration page using your main FTP username
and main FTP password.
