How can I password protect a directory using the Aplus.Net Control Panel?

Answer by: Stuart Pierce, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

You can use the Aplus.Net Control Panel to password protect a directory in your web space.

Here's how:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Now, select the hosted domain name that you’d like to manage.

NOTE: If your actual domain name does not yet resolve to Aplus.Net’s servers, you must use your utility domain (yourftpusername.web.aplus.net) that is associated with your Unix-based hosting plan.

  1. Click the Protect Directories icon.
  2. Select the directory that you’d like to password protect from the Choose the directory to be protected drop-down menu. Proceed to the Add a username… dialogue.
  3. In the Add a username… dialogue, enter a Username and Password for this directory. Click Add User when finished. You can repeat steps 6 and 7 for all legitimate users of this directory.
