going to offer Ricochet Services again?
No. This is not likely to happen. Aplus.Net
was a key Partner to Metricom back in 1999.
Unfortunately Metricom filed bankruptcy
and Ricochet services were terminated. Aplus.Net claimed damages
and the case settled out of court for unspecified amount.
Ricochet assets were purchased from Metricom by
another company. The market conditions are different today in 2003
compared to 1999. Strong competition from Cellular companies is emerging
with the introduction of the new G3 standard.
We believe that G3 will offer more coverage and better speeds than
Ricochet and we will be looking to partner with the new technology
vendors rather than with outdated technology vendor.
