Installing Dial-up networking

Answer by: David Edwards, Aplus.Net Technical Support.

If you are using Windows 95/98, and you do not see a “Dial-up Networking” icon in your “My Computer” directory, you probably need to install Dial-up networking. Here’s how:

  1. First you will need your Windows 95/98 disk.
  2. Go to Windows Start menu, and then select Settings, and Control Panel.
  3. Select the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  4. Click on the tab that reads Add/Remove Windows Components.
  5. Next, uncheck the box that reads Dial-up Networking and click Apply.
  6. You will have to restart your computer.
  7. After restarting, go back to the Add/Remove Programs menu.
  8. Go to the Add/Remove Windows Components tab.
  9. Find the Dial-up Networking icon, select it, and then click Apply.
  10. You should now be prompted for your Windows disk. Insert the Windows disk in the drive and it should automatically load up the newly installed Dial-up Networking module.

You are now ready to configure your Aplus.Net Dial-Up connection. For instructions on how to set up your dial-up connection, please go to the following document: How do I set up dial-up networking for Windows?
