If I transfer a domain with e-mail addresses that I use regularly, what should I do to make sure that my e-mail keeps working?

Answer by: Frederique Taillefer, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support.

If you are transferring the hosting of your domain to Aplus.Net, then you will need to make changes to your e-mail. In order to ensure the least amount of downtime in your e-mail, make sure that you take the following steps:

  1. Open your account with Aplus.Net, and make sure that your domain is added to your hosting plan.
  2. Create your e-mail accounts by logging into Aplus.Net’s Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your registration number and password.
  3. Contact your registrar and ask them to change the name servers on your domain to point to Aplus.Net’s name servers (Primary name server: ns1.abac.com; secondary name server: ns2.abac.com).
  4. Your e-mail will continue to be hosted by your previous hosting company until your domain resolves to Aplus.Net’s servers. As soon as your domain resolves to Aplus.Net’s servers, your e-mail will be hosted with Aplus.Net.
  5. Once you have tested your e-mail, you can cancel your hosting account with your previous hosting company.
