Answer by: Stuart Pierce, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

Joomla is one of the most powerful Open Source Content Management Systems. It is used all over the world for everything from simple websites to complex corporate applications. Joomla can be used to easily manage every aspect of your website, from adding content and images to updating a product catalog or taking online reservations. Joomla is easy to install, simple to manage, and reliable. It is available for installation through the Aplus.Net Control Panel for the following Unix-based hosting plans:

  • Pro Unix
  • eCommerce Unix

With the Joomla CMS, you can choose from a wide variety of templates for your website. The default Joomla installation available in the Aplus.Net Control Panel comes with one additional template only. You have to make an internet research to find out the Joomla template you like most.

The Joomla templates are usually available in ZIP archive. Once you have downloaded and saved the required file to your local computer, please read below for information on how to install the new template on your website:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Now, select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
  5. Click the Design tab.
  6. Click the Joomla icon.
  7. Click the Config button.
  8. Click the Install Templates button. You will be redirected to the Joomla Install New Template Screen.
  9. Click the Browse button located in the Upload Package File section.
  10. Locate the template archive file on your local computer.
  11. Click the Upload File & Install button.
  12. You will now see a confirmation screen. Click Continue to go to the Template Manager screen.
  13. Select your favorite template using the respective radio button and click the Default button.
