how does the Google DataCenter tool work?

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

The popular Google search engine has datacenters located at various locations. The exact search results depend on which server is being queried.

You can use the Google DataCenter tool to compare the results a given keyword produce depending on which server is queried. You can also use the tool to see the results of the Google’s Advanced operator search.

Here’s how to use the Google DataCenter tool:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Web Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation menu.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Select the domain that you’d like to manage.
  5. Click on the Marketing tab.
  6. Select the Google DataCenter icon.
  7. Next, use the respective radio button to select specific google servers. You will see all the google servers with IP address ending with the selected number.
  8. Select the number of search results to be displayed per page (default is 10)
  9. Enter the keyword(s) that you want to see the search results for.
  10. Click the Search button to see the results by querying the first server in the selected list or click on any server-IP link in order to see the results produced by respective server.

ADVANCED SEARCH:

If you want to use the advanced search option instead of the IP-based option, choose the Advanced radio button. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to select the number of results per page and the required keyword(s). Click the Search button to see the Google Advanced operator search results.

The results are divided into 4 sections:

  • Normal google search.
  • Advanced operator allintext: search - If you start your query with allintext:, Google restricts results to those containing all the query terms you specify in the text of the page. For example, [allintext: travel packing list] will return only pages in which the words "travel," "packing," and "list" appear in the text of the page.
  • Advanced operator allinURL: search - If you start your query with allinURL:, Google restricts results to those containing all the query terms you specify in the URL. For example, [allinurl: google faq] will return only documents that contain the words "google" and "faq" in the URL.
