I have a unix-based shared hosting plan. how do i remove a subdomain using the file manager?

Answer by: Stuart Pierce, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

You can remove a subdomain by manually deleting the directory that contains the subdomain’s content. On Aplus.Net’s Unix-based shared hosting plans, subdomains are stored in a directory in the root of the web space (i.e. home/subdomain/). You must delete this entire directory to remove it from your website.

Here’s how to remove a subdomain using the File Manager tool on the Aplus.Net Control Panel:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Web Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Now, select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
  5. Next, click the File Manager-New icon. You will see the content of your / root folder.
  6. Right-click the directory name (subdomain) that you want to delete in order to use the management menu.

  1. Select Delete and click OK to confirm the removal.

Important: Once removed, the files/folders cannot be restored i.e. there is no "undelete" or "undo" commands.
