The
eCommerce Booster module for Miva Merchant 5 is a free tool designed to
assist Miva 5 owners in promoting their stores and increasing their
rankings at various Search Engines. With this module you can
automatically insert Meta tags in the HTML pages
generated by Miva 5, create a Google Sitemap
and submit your website to major search
engines. Thus,
your
store's web pages will be better positioned in the result pages of the
search engines, bringing more traffic to your store and boosting your
e-sales.
Important:
The eCommerce Booster module is available only for eCommerce Unix and
eCommerce Windows hosting plans opened after December
10th, 2005 and running Miva
Merchant 5.
Below
you can see instructions on how to use the four main sections of the
eCommerce Booster module:
I.
STORE UTILITY
- Set
your Meta Tag Options - With the eCommerce Booster module you can
automatically insert Meta tags (DESCRIPTION,
KEYWORDS, ROBOTS and GOOGLEBOT tags) in the HTML content of the
following web pages: Store Front, Category Display, Product List, and
Product Display.
You
have the following Meta tags insertion options available for which of
the above pages:
- None
- Meta tags will not be created and stored in the HTML code of your
store web pages.
- Manual
–
you can manually create Meta tags promoting specific aspects of your
store, rather than the whole information that exists in its pages. With
this option you can edit the Meta tags KEYWORDS and DESCRIPTION only.
The other two - ROBOTS and GOOGLEBOT - are set by default to inform
search engines to crawl each page and all other pages it contains links
to.
- Auto
-
the eCommerce Booster module will create Meta tags relevant to your
current store name, existing categories, and products description.
In
addition to that, you could modify the Meta tag generation options for
each individual category and product in your store. Click on the Category
Display or Product Display link, click
the edit button for the selected category or
product, and then select the eCommerce Booster tab.
You will see a screen from where you could change the Meta options
locally. Local options could be set to Auto or Manual
only.
- Advanced
Meta Tag Options - can be used to set the local Meta tag options to the
global option for all products or categories of your store. If you have
changed some settings locally, and you want these settings set back to
the global settings, use the respective Force All button
to affect all categories or products.
II.
GOOGLE SITEMAP
The
Google Sitemap allows webmasters to inform Google about URL’s
on their website which are available for crawling. The Google Sitemap
is actually a file that lists the URLs for a site using the Google
Sitemap Protocol. The protocol was written to be highly scalable so it
can accommodate sites of any size.
In
order to generate and submit a sitemap of your Miva store to Google,
you need first to create a Google account. A link to the Google website
is available in the Google Sitemap section of the
eCommerce Booster module. Once you acquire a Google Username and
Password, fill in the respective fields and click on the Generate
and Submit Sitemap button.
We
strongly recommend that you start with the Meta tags creation for your
entire Miva store, before submitting a Sitemap to Google. Thus, you
will ensure that the Google Search Engine will index relevant and
up-to-date information.
Note:
Submissions to Google are limited to once per hour.
III.
SEARCH ENGINE SUBMISSION
You
can use this section of the eCommerce Booster module to submit your
homepage to some of the major search engines, in an attempt to increase
your web presence and search engine ranking.
For
best results, we strongly recommend that you set Meta tags for your
Miva store first. Also, include a link to your store in the homepage of
your domain (could be index.htm, index.html, index.php, index.cgi,
default.aspx, etc), because the domain index page is the "entry point"
for almost all of the search engines.
Note:
You are allowed to submit your Miva store to the major search engines
once in a month only. This limitation is set to prevent search engines
from penalizing your website and decreasing its rank.
IV.
SEO Tools
This
section of the eCommerce Booster module contains campaign measurement
tools which show Google Search Engine statistics for the past three
months. The following data is available:
- Google
Pagerank – this is Google’s major ranking system.
The Google page rank is represented on a scale of 0 to 10.
- Google
Link Popularity – this chart represents the total number of
links to your website from other websites indexed by Google.
- Google
Saturation – this chart represents the number of your web
pages already indexed by Google.
