You
can upload your website files using a number of different tools - an
FTP Client, a Web Browser, or the Aplus.Net’s File Manager
tool.
An
FTP Client is useful when uploading a large
number of files. Also, it is the most suitable application for
uploading files with size of several Megabytes and more. Furthermore, a
regular FTP client allows the user to manage the folder structure of
the FTP space and file permissions. Examples of popular FTP clients are
CuteFTP, WS_FTP, SmartFTP, FileZilla, LeechFTP, etc.
A
Web Browser is good when you want to have
quicker access without the need to configure any additional software.
However, a web browser is not as efficient as a regular FTP Client when
you need to upload larger files because the FTP connection usually time
outs.
The
File Manager is available through your Control
Panel. It is extremely useful to manage the folder structure of your
web space, upload a smaller number of files, or edit them directly on
the server.
FTP
CLIENT:
To
upload your site using an FTP client, you will need the following
information:
- Hostname
(host address):
- Unix-Based
plans - This is ftpusername.web.aplus.net
or
your
actual hosted domain name provided that it already resolves properly to
your Aplus.Net hosting server. Please replace ftpusername
with your actual Main FTP username associated with your hosting plan.
- Windows-Based
plans – This is either ftpusername.win.aplus.net
or your actual hosted domain name provided that it already resolves
properly to your Aplus.Net hosting server. Please replace ftpusername
with your actual Main FTP username associated with
your hosting plan.
- Username
and password:
The username and password are the Main FTP username and
password you set up when you signed up for hosting with
Aplus.Net.
- Host
Directory (Remote folder):
- If
you have a Unix-based hosting plan, you have to
upload your website files into the html folder.
- If
you have a Windows-based hosting plan, you have to
upload your website files into the WWWROOT folder.
Note:
Our hosting servers also support FTP upload over a secure TLS
connection. You can setup such a connection with most FTP clients.
WEB
BROWSER:
Please
have in mind that you can establish an FTP connection with a Web
Browser that has built-in FTP capabilities like Internet Explorer,
Netscape, etc. To upload your site using a web browser, please type the
following in the browser address bar:
- Unix-based
plans: ftp://ftpusername.web.aplus.net. (Replace
the ftpusername part with your actual Main FTP
username.) Then enter your Main FTP username and password
when prompted.
- Windows-based
plans: ftp://ftpusername.win.aplus.net. (Replace
the ftpusername part with your actual Main FTP
username.) Then enter your Main FTP username and password
when prompted.
Note:
Feel free to replace ftpusername.web.aplus.net or
ftpusername.win.aplus.net with your actual hosted domain name provided
that it already resolves properly to your Aplus.Net hosting server.
Important:
If you have a Unix-based hosting plan, you have to
upload your website files into the html folder
associated with your hosted domain name. If you have a Windows-based
hosting plan, you have to upload your website files into the WWWROOT
folder.
FILE
MANAGER:
If
your hosting plan includes the File Manager tool,
you can upload your files through the Aplus.Net Control Panel. Click here
