How do I uninstall the Web Accelerator?

Answer by: Frederique Taillefer, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support.

IMPORTANT: If you are using Netscape, Mozilla, or Opera, you will need to manually reconfigure the proxy settings in the browser after uninstalling or stopping Propel Accelerator in order to continue using the Internet. See below for further details.

Uninstalling Propel Accelerator

  1. Click on Start --> Programs --> Propel Accelerator
  2. Click on Uninstall Propel Accelerator

Alternatively, Propel Accelerator can be uninstalled using the Add/Remove Programs in control panel. Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

If you are using Netscape, Opera, or Mozilla, when you stop or uninstall the Web Accelerator you will need to reset proxy settings to their original values (or no values). Until you do this, you will likely not be able to access the Internet.

Here’s how to restore Netscape’s proxy settings after uninstalling the Web Accelerator (these instructions generally apply to Opera and Mozilla):

  1. Click on the Netscape Edit menu.
  2. Select Preferences.
  3. Double-click on Advanced.
  4. Click on Proxies.

·         If there was a proxy address in use prior to installing the Web Accelerator, enter that address and port number (Netscape 4.7 only: click View… first).

·         Otherwise, click “Direct Connection to the Internet.”
