Question categories:  Unix Plans

How do i set up two separate domains on my hosting plan so that they each have their own index page?

With Aplus.Net, you have the ability to add additional domains to your existing Unix-based shared hosting plan.

You can host certain number of domain names for free with each Unix-based hosting plan:

  • Personal Unix – 1 hosted domain name
  • Business Class Unix – 2 hosted domain names
  • Pro Unix – 2 hosted domain names
  • eCommerce Unix – 3 hosted domain names

You can associate more domains with your Unix-Based hosting plan. Hosting additional domains costs $1.99 / month for each additional domain.

The domain name that you’d like to associate with your existing hosting plan has to be registered and pointed to Aplus.Net’s Name Servers:

  • Primary: ns1.abac.com
  • Secondary: ns2.abac.com

In order to have your second domain with its own index page, you should choose the parking location to be /yourdomain.com instead of /.

Here’s how to add a second hosted domain with its own parking location:

  1. Log into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net with your Registration number and Customer password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Host New Domain.
  4. Use the Hosting Plan drop down menu to select the service plan that you want to host the new domain name with.

Important: You can host additional domains with Unix-based plans only.

  1. Enter the domain name that you want to host.

Important: Do not type www.domain.com, type the exact name of your domain without any prefixes.

  1. Click Create to have the new domain added to your hosting plan.
  2. Click the Manage link located on the confirmation page.
  3. Click the Change Website Root icon.
  4. Change the website root (parking location) of the new hosted domain to /yourdomain.com from / using the Parking Location drop-down menu.
  1. Finally, click the Modify button to confirm the change.

Note: Please allow up to 24 hours for the new domain name to be associated with your hosting plan.

A directory with the exact name of your domain will be automatically created into your home directory. You should put all the web files for that domain in a subdirectory "html" within that directory.
Example: If you have a domain "foo.org" and follow the steps above, you should put all the web files for this domain in "/foo.org/html" directory.

Important: If you wish to remove a domain name from your hosting plan, please contact our 24/7 Customer Care Department at 1-888-301-2516 (toll free) or 1-858-410-6900 (for international callers).
