Galleries are collections of your pictures. You can create as many
galleries as you want, and you can also assign permissions to other
users to create galleries and/or upload images. Here is how to
enable/disable the Image Gallery feature of TikiWiki using the
Aplus.Net Control Panel:
- Start
by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net
using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
- Select
Websites from the top navigation bar.
- Next,
select Hosting Domains and click on Manage
Hosting Domains.
- Now,
select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
- Click
on the Design tab.
- Click
on the Tiki Wiki icon.
- Go
to the Features tab.
- Use
the respective radio buttons to enable/disable the Image Galleries
feature.
- With
the Anonymous View checkbox you can set whether or
not anonymous users will be able to browse your galleries.
- Click
Modify to save the changes.
Now,
you have enabled the Image Gallery feature of your TikiWiki. You can
see below how you can create a gallery, upload images, and set
permissions for other users. To proceed with the management of your
Image Galleries, click the respective Manage button
in the Control Panel. The other option would be to go to:
http://yourdomain.com/twiki and to login as user admin using
your administrative password (please make sure to replace
“yourdomain.com with your actual domain name).
CREATE
A NEW GALLERY:
- Click
on Image Galleries in the navigation menu.
- Then,
click on the create new gallery link.
- A
form to create a new gallery will be displayed. Here is a description
of the form fields:
- Name
- the gallery name
- Description
- the gallery description
- Gallery
is visible to non-admin users - if not set, the gallery will be visible
only to users with the “tiki_p_admin_galleries”
permission set
- Max
Rows per page - maximum number of rows of thumbnails to be displayed
when someone visits the gallery.
- Images
per row - maximum number of thumbnails per row
- Thumbnails
size X - width for Thumbnails
- Thumbnails
size Y - height for Thumbnails
- Default
sort order – use the drop-down box to select the sort criteria
- Fields
to show during browsing the gallery – use the respective
check boxes to select which picture details will be visible
- Gallery
Image – use the drop-down box to select the picture to be
used as a gallery “title”
- Parent
Gallery – use the drop-down menu to put the gallery inside a
directory tree
- Other
users can upload images to this gallery - if checked, other users can
upload images to your gallery, but they will not be able to delete
images or edit the gallery.
- Once
you have filled in the form, please do not forget to click the Save
button.
UPLOAD
IMAGES:
- Click
on Upload Image from the Image Galleries section
found in the left panel menu.
- Enter
a name and description for the image you are going to upload.
- Select
the Gallery to upload to using the respective
drop-down box.
- There
are two ways to upload images: entering the image URL
or uploading an image from your disk. TikiWiki
admits both formats but you should use only one method for each image.
Note:
Optionally, you can also upload a thumbnail for the image. If you do
not upload a thumbnail, TikiWiki will auto-generate one using a reduced
copy of the original image.
- Finally,
click on the upload button.
Important:
The Image Gallery feature of TikiWiki uses a PHP module called GD2. We
have a document in our Knowledge Base which describes how to enable the
GD2 module (this concerns Unix-based hosting plans only):
SET
IMAGE GALLERY PERMISSIONS:
- Click
on Image Galleries in the left panel menu to see
the list of available galleries.
- Click
on the perms link in the
“Actions” section of the desired gallery.
- Now,
you can assign specific permissions for the groups you have created, as
well as for the two default groups: Anonymous and Registered. For
example, you may use this option to create private or paid galleries.
Note:
The tiki_p_admin_galleries is a
“master” permission which automatically includes
the other permissions for Image Galleries.
