how do i install oscommerce using the aplus.net control panel?

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

The osCommerce is available for installation through the Aplus.Net Control Panel with the following shared hosting plans:

  • Pro Unix
  • eCommerce Unix

Aplus.Net integrated the osCommerce installation process in the Web Control Panel in order to facilitate its customers.

Here is how to use the Control Panel interface to install osCommerce:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Now, select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
  5. Click on the OS Commerce icon.
  6. Enter your Store Name, Store Owner, and Store Owner Email in the respective text fields.
  7. This tool uses a MySQL database. Please choose a database from your existing ones using the respective drop-down menu.

Note: The tool will suggest the optimal one but you have the full control to select which one should be used for the installation.

  1. Click the Install button. The osCommerce software package will be automatically deployed into your web hosting space.

Important URLs:

  • osCommerce Admin panel: http://yourdomain.com/osc/admin/index.php. The osCommerce administrator username and password are set to be the same as your main FTP username and its associated password.
  • osCommerce store: http://yourdomain.com/osc/index.php.
  • osCommerce installation directory: {home}/html/osc/
  • Note: Replace yourdomain.com with your actually hosted domain name with Aplus.Net.
