The
Website Search Engine will allow users to
perform keyword search to find specific information on your web site.
Upon installation a search_form.html file will be
created in the /html directory of your FTP web
space.
Note:
Please have in mind that the Website Search Engine is available for
UNIX-based shared hosting plans only.
I.
Here’s how to install the Website Search Engine:
- Start by
logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net
using your Registration Number and Customer
Password.
- Select Web
Hosting from the top navigation bar.
- Next, select Hosted
Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
- Now, select
the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
- Click on the Design
tab.
- Click the Website
Search Engine icon.
- Click the Install
button to install the Website Search
Engine in the home directory of your website.
Once
installation is complete, click the Index Site button.
The search engine will run through (index) your web site files so that
they could be displayed when searched for.
II.
You have two options if you wish to change the location of the Website
Search Engine:
- You
can place automatically the HTML code for the Website
Search Engine.
Click the Import Search
Engine
button,
select an existing web page, and then click on a desired location to
insert the tool. Click Save from the top
navigation to finish.
NOTE:
Please have in mind that with this option you will have limited design
capabilities, given the fact that the web page you have chosen already
has content.
- Or,
click the Grab html code button to copy to
clipboard the required HTML code. You may use this code for of your all
web pages you wish to have the Website
Search Engine
on.
NOTE:
With this option, you will be able to manually import the HTML code,
thus obtaining full control over the design of your web page.
III.
Click the Preferences tab to adjust the available
options regarding the user’s queries and the search results.
Note:
If you decide to log the queries to a file, this file will be located
at html/SearchEngine/data/log.txt.
IV.
Click the Filters tab to adjust the available
indexing options.
- You can
specify the file extensions to be indexed.
- You can
choose whether or not to index your FrontPage Extensions directories
(if you have the FP extensions installed).
- You can
exclude certain directories from being indexed.
