How do I encrypt a file?

Answer by: Stuart Pierce, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support.

The Web-a-File Backup Agent software allows you to encrypt the files you are uploading to your Web-a-File server. Here’s how to enable file encryption before starting the backup process:

Important: Prior to using this feature, you have to download and install on your local computer the Web-a-File client software available at www.web-a-file.com.

  1. Open the Web-a-File Backup Agent from your local computer.
  2. Select the particular schedule task you wish to use encryption with and click on the Settings button.

  1. Check the box next to Encrypt files and type your Encryption password in the respective text field. Later on you will be able restore the encrypted files using this password.

  1. Click OK.

Note: You cannot encrypt files, if you are using a free Web-a-File account.
