The
MediaWiki software has been designed to allow different users to edit
the contents of a website. You can allow/disallow the anonymous editing
option on your MediaWiki website using the Aplus.Net Control Panel. You
can also allow/disallow the ability of a random visitor to create an
editor’s account for your site.
Here
is how to create additional accounts and define the options mentioned
above:
- Start
by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net
using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
- Select
Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
- Next,
select Hosted Domains and click on Manage
Hosted Domains.
- Now,
select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
- Click
on the Design tab.
- Click
on the Media Wiki icon.
- Go
to the Settings tab.
I.
Create new account:
- Select
Add a new user using the user selection
drop-down menu.
- Enter
the new user’s login information, real name and email address.
- Click
Add to save the new user into the database.
II.
Manage existing account:
- Select
an existing user from the user selection drop-down menu.
- Update
user’s login information, real name, and/or email address.
- Click
Modify to save the changes into the
database.
III.
Change your MediaWiki user settings:
- Anonymous
Browsing:
- Enabled
(default option) – If enabled, visitors to your MediaWiki
based site will be able to browse the pages.
- Disabled
– If disabled, only registered users will be able to browse
your web site pages.
- Anonymous
Edits:
- Enabled
– If enabled, each visitor to your MediaWiki based site will
be able to edit the contents.
- Disabled
(default option) – If disabled, only registered users will be
able to edit the contents of your MediaWiki based site.
- Users
Registration:
- Enabled
– If enabled, each visitor to your MediaWiki based site will
be able to create a user account, thus able to edit the content.
- Disabled
(default option) – If disabled, only you as the administrator
will be able to create additional user accounts.
- File
Uploads:
- Enabled
– If enabled, all registered users will be able to upload
files to your MediaWiki based site.
- Disabled
(default option) – If disabled, this option will not be
available.
