E-mail
account creation, configuration, and settings differ depending on your
type of account with Aplus.Net.
Note: This guide is for POP mail configuration. To see how IMAP settings differ please view the related links at the bottom of the page.
Important:
The instructions in this document apply to the following types of
service plans:
- Personal
Unix, Business Class Unix,
Pro Unix or eCommerce Unix shared hosting plans.
- Personal
Windows,
Business Class Windows, Pro Windows or eCommerce Windows shared hosting
plans.
- Connect,
ConnectXS, ConnectPro, or ConnectFV dial-up accounts.
E-mail
instructions that apply to service plans not found in the list above:
- Hosting plans
created before August 2002, please click

- Dial-up
accounts created before February 19th, 2004,

You
will first need to create the email box in your Aplus.Net account using
the Control Panel. Here’s how:
- Start
by logging into the Aplus.Net
Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your
Registration Number and Customer Password.
- Select the Emails
tab from the
top navigation bar.
- Next, select Email
Boxes and
click on Create Email Box.
- Enter the new account name into the eMail Address
text
field.
- Select the domain you want associated
with this email address using the available
drop-down menu.
- Now, enter the password for this e-mail
account into the Password
field.
- Click Create
to setup this email account.
To access your emails, you can either use Aplus.Net’s
Web-based e-mail client or a local email client, such as Microsoft
Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, Netscape, Eudora, etc.
WEB-BASED
EMAIL CLIENT:
- Go to http://mail.yourdomain.com,
where yourdomain.com should be replaced with your
hosted domain name.
- Enter your
entire e-mail
address in the Mailbox field. Type your password in the respective
field, and click Login.
LOCAL
E-MAIL CLIENT – GENERIC SETTINGS:
- Account type:
POP3.
- Account name (Username):
your entire email address, including @yourdomain.com.
- Password: the password
that you set when you created your e-mail box in your Aplus.Net Control
Panel.
- Incoming Mail
Server: mail.yourdomain.com (Please,
replace yourdomain.com with your hosted domain name).
- Incoming
Server Port and Connections settings –you have the following
options:
- Port 110
with regular connection (without SSL).
- Port 110
with secure connection over TLS.
- Port 995
with secure connection over SSL.
- Outgoing Mail
Server: smtp.yourdomain.com (Please,
replace yourdomain.com with your hosted domain name).
- Authentication
–Turn on
Outgoing Server Authentication and use the username and password as
specified in 2 and 3.
- SMTP Port and
Connection settings - you have two options:
- Outgoing (SMTP) mail
port: 465. You have to use SSL
secured connection for the Outgoing mail server.
- Outgoing
(SMTP) mail port: 587. You have to use TLS
secured connection for the Outgoing mail server.
Note:
If you have configured your email client to receive messages over a
secure connection (step5), it is possible that your email client
displays a warning message concerning the Secure Certificate installed
on the mail server. In order to avoid this warning message, you can
replace the incoming mail server (mail.yourdomain.com) with the email
server name:
You
can find out which is your hosting server using the Usage Meter tool in
the Control Panel: How do I find out the hostname of my server?
Note:
Please pay attention to the following detail depending on your type of
hosting plan:
- Unix hosting plans - the email
server name is the same as your hosting server name.
- Windows
hosting plans – the email server name will be of the form: proXX.abac.com
where "XX" is replaced by a two-digit number. Please do not confuse it
with the actual hosting server name which will be of the form: maximaX.abac.com.

server name.
