You can group similar products of your Miva
Storefront in a category. Each category will appear in the Store
Category Tree on the left side of your Miva Merchant Store. Each
category is defined by a code and a name. Categories can have sub-categories,
to further organize your products.
Important: The following screenshots and
instructions apply to Unix-based, eCommerce Unix plans using Miva 5.
into your Miva Admin Panel at http://yourdomain.com/mm5/admin.mvc
using the Main FTP Username and FTP Password of your eCommerce Unix shared
hosting plan.
Note: If you are
in the Simple Administration mode switch to Advanced Administration mode
- Expand
the Stores menu.
- Then,
expand your Miva Store.
- Click
the Add link located next to Categories.
- Enter
the new Category details:
- Category
code: Enter a code for your category. The code can include letters
and numbers, up to 50 characters.
- Category
name: Enter a name for your category. The name can include letters
and numbers, up to 100 characters. The category name appears
as a link in the category tree of your Miva Store.
- Parent
Category: Enter the code of an existing category, if your new
category is supposed to be a sub-category. Enter the code directly
or use the Look Up button to search for all available
category codes.

Checkbox: If the Active Checkbox is selected, the category will
be displayed in the category tree. Otherwise, it will be invisible
to your store visitors. If you make a category inactive, all
products that are associated with it and belong to multiple categories,
will still appear in other categories set as active.
- Click Add to
create the category or click Add+ to create the category
and start creating a new one.
Additional Options:
