How do I access Aplus.Net's dial-up service under Windows XP?

Answer by:  Andrew Hickl, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

Here’s how:

If you’re a Windows XP Home Edition user, please start with Step 1. If you are a Windows XP Professional Edition user, please skip to Step 3.

1.      From the Start Menu, choose Network Connections. This will open the Network Connections window.

2.      Double-click the New Connection Wizard icon. Skip to Step 5.

Windows XP Professional Edition users should start here with Step 3.

3.      From the Start Menu, choose Connect To, and then select Show All Connections.

4.      Click on Create a New Connection. This will open the New Connection Wizard.

The following instructions are appropriate for either version of Windows XP.

5.      You will now see the Welcome to the New Connection Wizard screen. Click next to continue.

6.      Select the Connect to the Internet radio button and click next to continue.

7.      Next, click the Set up my connection manually radio button and click next to continue.

8.      Click the Connect using a dial-up modem radio button. Click next to continue.

9.      Enter Aplus.Net into the ISP Name field. Click next to continue.

10.  Enter your access number into the Phone Number field.  Enter only the digits that you would need to enter if you were dialing the number using your phone’s handset. Click next to continue.

11.   Enter your Username (i.e. user@abac.com) and Password into the appropriate fields. Click next to continue.

12.  On the Completing the New Connection Wizard screen, check the Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop… checkbox.  Click Finish.

13.  Return to your Desktop.  Double-click the new Connect Aplus.Net icon. This will open a new dialogue window.

14.  In the Connect Aplus.Net window, click Dial to connect to the Internet.
