With Web-a-File, you can compress your files to reduce the overall
size of your documents and therefore increase the speed of transmission
over slower Internet connections and reduce the space that your documents
use. The Web-a-File File Compression feature uses a compression algorithm
that minimizes disk usage and reduces file size.
Here’s how to use the File Compression feature:
- Start
by opening up Windows Explorer.
- Find
the document(s) that you wish to backup using the File Compression
feature.
- Right-click
the document, and select the Web-a-File option from the
shortcut menu.
For one-time backups:
· Select Backup from the shortcut menu.
· In the Web-a-File backup window, click on Settings.
· In the next window, select Compress backup file(s) under Compression
Settings. Once you click Start, you files will be compressed
and backed up.
For Scheduled Backups:
· Select Schedule Backup from the shortcut menu.
· If you want to create a new task, select the Create new scheduled
task option, then select Compress backup file(s) from
the Additional Settings.
· If you want to add the compression feature to existing scheduled
tasks, select the Add to existing scheduled tasks option.
Then select a scheduled task from the Web-a-File Backup Agent list,
click on Settings under the Scheduled Task properties.
Next, select Compress backup file(s) from the Additional
Settings.
NOTE: Prior to using this feature, you will need to download the
Web-a-File client software available at www.web-a-file.com.
