can I use my aplus.net email account with a windows mobile based portable device?

Aplus.Net email services are compatible with portable devices such as mobile phones, Pocket PC’s and PDA’s. In other words, you can use your portable device to send and receive messages through your Aplus.Net email account. The supported Operation Systems for these devices include Symbian OS, Palm OS, and Windows CE. Furthermore, Aplus.Net supports both POP3 and IMAP access to the mail servers.

The example below refers to a Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 based portable device (Pocket PC).

Note: Microsoft Windows Mobile 2002 is powered by Windows CE 3.00 and Microsoft Windows Mobile 2003 is powered by Windows CE 4.20. It is required that your portable device has a configured Internet connection.

Here is how to configure your Aplus.Net Email Account on a Pocket PC running Windows Mobile 2003 (Powered by Windows CE 4.20)

  1. Tap Start, then Tap Inbox.
  2. Tap Accounts -> New Account…
  3. Enter your email address and Tap Next. Example: info@mydomain.com
  4. Skip the Automatic Configuration. Tap Skip or Next.
  5. Enter your Email User Information:
    1. Your name - Type the exact name to be displayed as sender of the outgoing emails. Example: John Doe
    2. User name - Type the whole email address as your email username. Same as in step 3. Example: info@mydomain.com
    3. Password - Type your email password
  6. Tap Next.
  7. Select POP3 as Account type. Enter a name of your choice for the Email Connection, you are currently configuring. Tap Next.
  8. Enter the email server information:
    1. Incoming Mail - type mail.yourdomain.com (Please replace “yourdomain.com” with your actual hosted domain name).
    2. Outgoing Mail - type smtp.yourdomain.com:587 (Please replace “yourdomain.com” with your actual hosted domain name).
    3. Domain – leave this field blank.
  9. Tap Options to open the Advanced Configuration screen.
  10. Select if your Pocket PC should automatically connect to the mail server to check for new messages. If yes, define which configured connection should be used and what should be the interval between the connections.
  11. Tap Next.
  12. Check the Outgoing e-mail server requires authentication box. Tap Next.
  13. Select how your Pocket PC Email Client should download your email messages:
    1. Get message headers only – Your email client will download the email header only so you can preview your email messages and choose which ones to download.
    2. Get full copy of messages – Your email client will download the full email messages from the mail server.
  14. Tap Finish.
  15. Your Aplus.Net Email Account is now configured on your Pocket PC.
