How can I set up live media streaming with my hosting plan?

NOTE: The RealMedia Live streaming is supported with Pro or eCommerce Unix hosting plan. Before you can stream media with your hosting plan, you will first need to request the Real Audio server activation, by sending an e-mail to support@aplus.net. Please, include your registration number and the main FTP username associated with your hosting plan.

The purpose of the Real Audio/Video account with Aplus.Net is to give the possibility of real time live media streaming to our customers. This means that you will need the Real Audio server to be activated for you plan to do live broadcasting (such radio or TV). In this case, you are no uploading to the Real server, as the file is produced in real time by the server.

• For live streaming you need to download Real Helix Producer Basic. You can download the free versions of the encoder here: http://www.realnetworks.com/products/producer/basic.html

  You will then access the stream with either of the following paths:

• pnm://real.abac.com/live/yourstreamname

• rtsp://real.abac.com/live/yourstreamname

• If you do not plan to do any live broadcasting, simply upload your .rm files somewhere in your web space and access them with either of the following paths:

• pnm://yourdomain.com/yourstreamname

• rtsp://yourdomain.com/yourstreamname

Your user name and password are your FTP user name and password. The address of the Real Audio server is real.abac.com and the port is 4040.
