Order
encryption is used to protect credit card data already stored in your
Miva Merchant. That is, when your customers have already made an order
and sent their credit card information, you can encrypt it with a
certain pass phrase. Thus, the credit card information will not be
readable, unless the pass phrase is applied. With this method you can
ensure that only authorized employees from your office can see sensible
credit card details.
From
the other hand, an SSL certificate is used to protect credit card
information from the customer’s computer to your Miva
Merchant. By default, Aplus.Net Miva users can take advantage of the
shared SSL certificate installed on the hosting server. You can also
purchase and install your own certificate, in order to legitimate your
identity and business. More information on SSL certificates is

The following screenshots and instructions apply to Unix-based, eCommerce Unix
plans using Miva 5.
Here
is how to add encryption to the already received orders of your Miva
Merchant Store. Please have in mind that your encryption pass phrase is
not stored in any database on Aplus.Net or Miva servers, and as such
cannot be retrieved. Encrypted order information can be viewed only
with your pass phrase.
- Login into
your Miva Admin Panel at http://yourdomain.com/mm5/admin.mvc using the
Main FTP Username and FTP Password of your eCommerce Unix shared hosting plan.
Note:
If you are in the Simple Administration mode,
switch to Advanced Administration mode.
- Expand the Stores
menu.
- Expand your Miva
Store.
- Then, expand Order
Processing.
- Click on Add
from the Order Processing menu.
- Now, you have
to specify the following information:
- Current
– check this box to activate the encryption pass phrase.
- Encryption
Prompt – enter here a reminder for your pass phrase. It will
be visible when you process a new order with your pass phrase.
- Encryption
pass phrase – enter your pass phrase. It could contain upper-
and lower case letters, numbers, and punctuation.
- Verify
pass phrase – confirm your pass phrase.
- Finally,
click the Add button.
