Can I edit text-based files using the Aplus.Net Control Panel?

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support

You can edit most text based files (like .html, .txt, or .htaccess files) using the File Manager found on the Aplus.Net Web Control Panel.

Note: Editing certain text files in your web space may cause your site to function improperly or not be available via the Internet.

Here’s how:

  1. Start by logging into the Aplus.Net Control Panel at http://cp.aplus.net using your Registration Number and Customer Password.
  2. Select Web Hosting from the top navigation bar.
  3. Next, select Hosted Domains and click on Manage Hosted Domains.
  4. Now, select the hosted domain that you’d like to manage.
  5. Next, click the File Manager icon.
  6. Use the File Manager to browse to the directory that contains the file that you’d like to edit.
  7. Click on the Edit icon found at the right-hand end of the row associated with the file. This will open a new window.
  8. Make your changes in the new window. When finished, click the Save & Quit button to be returned to the File Manager.

Note: If your actual domain name does not yet resolve to Aplus.Net’s servers, you must use the utility domain, (yourftpusername.web.aplus.net / yourftpusername.win.aplus.net) that is associated with your Unix/Windows-based hosting plan.
