The
outgoing port number is dependent on which SMTP servers you use:
- If you use the SMTP server
provided by your Internet Service Provider, you can leave the outgoing
port number set to 25, and leave all default settings in
you email client.
- However, if your Internet
Service Provider does not provide SMTP servers, or you would rather
use Aplus.Net’s SMTP server, you can use smtp.yourdomain.com
as an outgoing mail server. You need to make a few other changes.
- Enable SMTP service
i. Log on to
your control panel at http://cp.aplus.net using
your registration number and password.
ii. Select the Emails link
from the top navigation bar.
iii. Next, select Email
Boxes and click on Manage Email Boxes.
iv. Click on
the e-mail account that you’d like to manage.
v. Select the
Enable/Disable SMTP service icon.
vi. Adjust the SMTP
Server drop-down menu to read Enabled.
vii. Click Modify to
set up the SMTP server. Click Cancel to escape.
- In your
email client, make sure you check the box next to the field “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”, and set the
outgoing (SMTP) port number to 587.
