are aplus.net email services compatible with portable devices?

Answer by: George Kaloyanov, Aplus.Net Knowledge Base Support.

Aplus.Net email services are compatible with portable devices such as mobile phones, Pocket PC’s and PDA’s. In other words, you can use your portable device to send and receive messages through your Aplus.Net email account. The supported Operation Systems for these devices include Symbian OS, Palm OS, and Windows CE. Furthermore, Aplus.Net supports both POP3 and IMAP access to the mail servers. With a connected portable device and Aplus.Net’s email services, you can use your email account anytime you don’t have access to a desktop or laptop computer.

I. Generic Email Settings:

You can setup your Aplus.Net Email Account on any connected portable device that has an email client application.

You have to apply the following  settings:

POP3 Settings:

  1. Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  2. Email Username: The entire email address. Example: info@yourdomain.com
  3. Email Password: The password associated with your Email Box

IMAP Settings:

  1. Incoming Mail Server: mail.yourdomain.com
  2. Email Username: The entire email address. Example: info@yourdomain.com
  3. Email Password: The password associated with your Email Box
  4. You should enable SSL Secure Connection on port 993

Outgoing SMTP Settings:

  1. Outgoing Email Server (SMTP): smtp.yourdomain.com
Important: Please have in mind that in order to use the Aplus.Net SMTP server (smtp.yourdomain.com), you have to enable it first using the Control Panel. Here is how:
  1. The “Outgoing Email Server requires authentication” option should be enabled. The Username and Password are the same as the login details for the Incoming Mail Server.
  2. SMTP Port and Connection settings - you have two options:
    • Outgoing (SMTP) mail port: 465. You have to use SSL secured connection for the Outgoing mail server.
    • Outgoing (SMTP) mail port: 587. You have to use TLS secured connection for the Outgoing mail server.

Important: Some Portable Email Clients may not have the capabilities to modify mail port numbers or to enable SSL Secure Connection. Please contact your Portable Device vendor to request possible software upgrades or patches.
